The Professional Worrier

Become the Boss of Your Anxiety

By Stewart Geddes

  • Paperback
  • £13.99

The Professional Worrier explores how anxiety works and shows us how to build awareness around our worries to meet them head on.

'Geddes gets it: anxiety, how it works and, more importantly, how to show it who's boss' Caroline Foran, author of Owning It

Worry and anxiety can damage our careers and relationships, can hold us back from exploring new opportunities, and is detrimental to our concentration, mood and self-esteem. And during times when we feel overwhelmed, we doubt ourselves and our ability to cope.

In The Professional Worrier, counsellor, psychotherapist and self-confessed worrier Stewart Geddes examines how creating greater awareness around anxiety can change the way you deal with everyday stresses at work and at home.

From anxiety about relationships to panic about an ever-growing to-do list, fear of making the wrong decision, or the pressure of producing perfect work, The Professional Worrier offers practical guidance to help you take control of your worry every day - so it doesn't control you - and build the trust in yourself to tackle anything that comes your way.

A Degree of Truth

Muriel Bolger
Authors:
Muriel Bolger

Coming to Dublin to university is the realisation of a dream for Tansy Nugent. Student life is full of new friends, excitement and promise. And all that is before she meet Professor Sean Pollard. Older, suave, cultured and definitely a citizen of the world, he epitomises both her ideal man and a life that is a parallel one to anything she has known. He also has a bit of a reputation.Although their paths collide briefly, the effect has long-reaching and turbulent consequences for both. If fate has brought them together, common sense and ethics quickly pull them apart. Sean vanishes without telling her. Tansy concentrates on her studies and her teaching career. But life is never that simple and when he suddenly reappears a few years later she finds herself entrapped again. And she finds herself remembering her flatmate's words of caution, 'be careful what you wish for...'

Can I Say No?

Stefanie Preissner
Authors:
Stefanie Preissner

'No' is the first thing I ever said. It was actually the only thing I said in my first speaking months. Like most children, I was born with an innate ability to set boundaries for myself. 'No.' 'Mine.' I intuitively knew how to practise self-care and self-preservation. Then, at some point, just like my ability to shuffle across the floor on my butt, I forgot how to say no...Traumatic childhood sleepovers, stressful social occasions, unrealistic demands at work, unwanted second dates and endless offers of cake, in her memoir, award-winning writer Stefanie Preissner leaves no NO unexplored. From the issue of consent, and what happens when a whole country comes together to say Yes, Can I Say NO? is one woman's honest and hilarious take on how re-learning one small word can pave the way to saying YES to who you really are.

The Seven-Day Soul

Susannah Healy
Authors:
Susannah Healy

'An essential book about the transformative power of a grounded spiritual life' Jack Canfield, internationally bestselling author of Chicken Soup for the Soul'This wonderful blend of science and spirituality provides a clear path to finding deeper meaning and joy in life. A beautiful read' Marci Shimoff, No.1 New York Times bestselling author of Happy for No ReasonIn this ground-breaking book, psychologist and mindfulness meditation teacher Susannah Healy reveals the evidence-basis for the value of spirituality in all aspects of our lives. She examines the place of spirituality in a culture that values individualism and left-brained thinking, and delves into the psychological research that shows that it is in self-transcendence -- the conscious service of others and the world -- that true happiness lies.Gently guiding the reader through millennia of spiritual teachings in the world faith traditions, Susannah expands the vision of God from the Western 'old man in the sky' image into something less literal, which can ultimately give meaning to all. She shows how we can apply this to all aspects of our life, including relationships, parenting, career and recreation, for our greater good and that of society as a whole. With meditations, simple exercises and case studies, The Seven-Day Soul is a book of gentle wisdom to live by.
