Authors:
Susannah Healy

'An essential book about the transformative power of a grounded spiritual life' Jack Canfield, internationally bestselling author of Chicken Soup for the Soul'This wonderful blend of science and spirituality provides a clear path to finding deeper meaning and joy in life. A beautiful read' Marci Shimoff, No.1 New York Times bestselling author of Happy for No ReasonIn this ground-breaking book, psychologist and mindfulness meditation teacher Susannah Healy reveals the evidence-basis for the value of spirituality in all aspects of our lives. She shows how we can apply this to all aspects of our life, including relationships, parenting, career and recreation, for our greater good and that of society as a whole. With meditations, simple exercises and case studies, The Seven-Day Soul is a book of gentle wisdom to live by.

Why Can't Everything Just Stay the Same?

Stefanie Preissner
Authors:
Stefanie Preissner

'Witty, shocking in parts and written with real heart ... has something to say to everyone' Sunday Times'Honest, witty and poignant observations on life that are both heart breaking and heartwarming' Amy HubermanAs a child, being in new places made Stefanie Preissner ill, which was why her family holidayed in the same apartment on the same island off the Spanish coast for nine years in a row. And why, at Christmas, she wrote lengthy letters to Santa (note: letters, plural) begging him not to bring any surprises. She hated change. Of all descriptions. But change happens, no matter what we do. Here, in her first book, Stefanie looks at the ways in which her life has changed. From birthdays, to friendships, to Christmas homecomings, to social media (she's more JOMO than FOMO), to the importance of asking WWNSD? (What Would Nicole Scherzinger Do?) when faced with big decisions, to the changes you can't prevent like when someone breaks up with you, Why Can't Everything Just Stay the Same? is the hilarious and honest account of one woman's journey through the biggest change of all: adulthood. It's Stefanie's life, but her struggles are universal. Insecurity? Check. Anger? Check. Weight issues? Big fat check. Stefanie shines a light on human frailty and human strength, proving they are not opposites, but often walk hand-in-hand. Her clear-headed compassion rings true. We all "have demons way deeper than donuts", but we can control our fate. We can choose to eat or sweat. Stefanie lets us see her sweat-both literally and figuratively-and the result is an inspiring, thoroughly enjoyable book. Nell Scovell, creator of Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Broken Harbour

Tana French
Authors:
Tana French

'One of the most talented crime writers alive' Washington Post'I've been enthusiastically telling everyone who will listen to read Tana French' Harlan Coben, author of SafeSometimes there is no safe place. Nothing about the way this family lived shows why they deserved to die. But here's the thing about murder: ninety-nine times out of a hundred, it doesn't break into people's lives. It gets there because they open the door and invite it in...In Broken Harbour, a ghost estate outside Dublin - half-built, half-inhabited, half-abandoned - two children and their father are dead. The mother is on her way to intensive care. Scorcher Kennedy is given the case because he is the Murder squad's star detective. At first he and his rookie partner, Richie, think this is a simple one: Pat Spain was a casualty of the recession, so he killed his children, tried to kill his wife Jenny, and finished off with himself. But there are too many inexplicable details and the evidence is pointing in two directions at once. Scorcher's personal life is tugging for his attention. Seeing the case on the news has sent his sister Dina off the rails again, and she's resurrecting something that Scorcher thought he had tightly under control: what happened to their family, one summer at Broken Harbour, back when they were children. The neat compartments of his life are breaking down, and the sudden tangle of work and family is putting both at risk . . .

The Humours of Planxty

Leagues O'toole

When Christy Moore, Dónal Lunny, Andy Irvine and Liam O'Flynn took to the stage in Vicar Street, Dublin, in January 2004, Ireland was once again treated to a live performance from one of its greatest musical collaborations.Founded in 1972 out of a meeting of minds during the recording of Christy Moore's album Prosperus, Planxty brought the instruments and harmonies of traditional Irish music to audiences all over the world, popularising and revitalising a musical tradition that was in decline. In this first official account of the group, Leagues O'Toole talks to the band's members and charts the history of Planxty, relating the highs and lows of the band's glory days through to their reformation in 2003.For over a decade, Planxty supplied the soundtrack to a constantly evolving Ireland, revitalising the relationship between traditional culture and youth culture. Today the music of Planxty is reaching new audiences and the rebellious inspiration of Ireland's first supergroup remains.
